We are still waiting for the Mayor to fulfill her commitment to increase police accountability.

One year ago, Lori Lightfoot promised to create strong civilian oversight of the Chicago Police Department and pledged her support for passing the GAPA ordinance. Today, as police abuse and misconduct continue to occur, the city still does not have any civilian oversight. Mayor Lightfoot has failed to keep her promise and has failed the city as a result. The GAPA coalition has issued a press release denouncing her inaction.
