Time is Running Out: Vote for Minimum Wage Increase

Time is running out for the Illinois General Assembly to pass legislation to raise the minimum wage. There are only 3 days left to take this important step.

We need your Illinois House Representative’s support to raise the minimum wage with no strings attached. Tell them not to make changes to state law that would make it impossible for local governments to enact a higher minimum wage (known as preemption). Voting for preemption would make it illegal for cities across the state to pass their own higher minimum wage. For example, the cost of living in Chicago is on average 20% higher than the rest of the state.

It’s very important that your Illinois Representative hear from you TODAY.  Can you contact your House Representative now?  Please send an e-mail right away and then follow up with a phone call.

You can find the phone number for your House Representative here: http://www.elections.il.gov/DistrictLocator/DistrictOfficialSearchByAddress.aspx

Over 2 million Illinoisans voted to increase the minimum wage on Election Day. The vast majority of Illinois voters - 66.5% - support raising the wage. Help us hold our elected officials accountable to increasing the minimum wage now.  We can’t stop – working families can’t survive on $8.25.
