Rally to End Money Bail
Support bail reform in Cook County! For decades, legally innocent people have been incarcerated at Cook County Jail simply because judges set monetary bonds that they could not pay. Today approximately 2,500 people remain jailed in Cook County because they cannot afford to pay their money bonds. Access to money should not determine whether or not an accused person is detained in jail before a trial. In addition, African Americans receive disproportionately high monetary bonds and are disproportionately unable to pay these bonds.
